Five Tips For Eco-Friendly Living from Cocoa
DRAPER, Utah — July 21, 2008 — It’s easy to feel guilty about not being green. It’s even easier to make a few lifestyle adjustments according to Cocoa designers whose design goals include creating products that make it easier to care for the environment.
According to Cocoa Chief Creative Officer Scott Warner, “While most of us understand that living an eco-friendly lifestyle is beneficial, many of us don’t know where to start. Some significant environmental benefits can come through very simple means—how we shop, work, cook, and clean.”
Cocoa makes inventive and stylish office and home products that also help people be environmentally responsible. In light of this design philosophy, Warner recommends the following five eco-friendly lifestyle tips:
- Group errands so that you take one less car trip per week. If your employer allows, work four ten-hour days instead of five eight-hour days per week to save a commute.
- Unplug appliances when not in use. Even appliances that are turned off draw electricity when plugged in.
- “Unplug” your kids every day to give them time to explore, imagine, and discover in ways that don’t use electricity or other consumables.
- Organize your spaces to avoid costly and wasteful double purchasing of things you have but can’t find.
- Purchase products that help you reduce the consumables you use every day—water, paper, gasoline, electricity, etc.
